ABOUT
"I used to be a dancer... but now I prefer to sit."
~Alex Korey
I have spent my entire life directing, producing, and dancing around living rooms. My first production was in the 5th Grade; I cast and directed all of my friends in various scenes from ALICE IN WONDERLAND, where everyone took turns playing Alice (regardless of ethnicity, size, or gender). I was also a competitive baton twirler (2-time State Champion!) and had already been to half of the states in USA by the time I was 15. But the things I loved most were ballet class, and pretending to be grown up, and answering all of Barbara Walters' pressing questions. I pivoted to theater in high school, where I fell in love with Shakespeare and Musical Theatre. I won a scholarship to attend Interlochen Arts Camp, then attended NYU/ TSOA on a Trustee Scholarship.
Professionally, I have performed on some of our country's finest stages, including The Fox Theater in St. Louis, The Great Hall at Cooper Union, Town Hall in New York City, and the "practice, practice, practice" place: Carnegie Hall. (Lots o' Halls.) Favorite roles include The Ghost of Christmas Past (A CHRISTMAS CAROL), Mrs. Molloy (HELLO, DOLLY!), Rapunzel (INTO THE WOODS) Tessie Tura the Texas Twirler (GYPSY - I also understudied and went on for Mama Rose), Helena (A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM), Falstaff (yes, him, HENRY IV PT. II), and Ousier (STEEL MAGNOLIAS). I have not yet played Mother in RAGTIME... but hope springs eternal.
I have also always been a writer. My essays and reviews have been published across various platforms; I've had books published, stage plays produced, and have been commissioned to write several Films and TV scripts for various director/producer types.
I currently have one indie feature and two television projects in development, and am writing a third book. I love independent films, documentaries, and hanging out with funny people.
And if you need me to have a mission statement, I guess it would be:
To entertain,
enliven,
and edify
through story and song.
