This was Avery's second Halloween, in 2008. We dressed him up like a cowboy, and drove 150 miles to my parents' house to surprise them.
Warren took many beautiful images of Avery (and me) exploring the woods behind my parents house that afternoon, but I especially love this one. I think it's because you can really see Avery looking. Taking in everything around him. Learning. It was all so new, to him, then. Everything was an adventure; sky, leaves, grass, wind; light itself.
And now he's about to turn seven. Seven? And there's still so much to see; so many adventures ahead. Birds to name, fish to catch, forests to wander through.
Let's go wandering.
